SANTA CLARA, CA: Nexenta, a provider of Open Source-driven Software-Defined Storage (OpenSDS), announces its extension of support to VMware Hyper-Converged Software environments- the VMware Virtual SAN.
NexentaConnect completes the existing VMware Virtual SAN environments in to a software-only Hyper-Convergence solution by adding file services such as NFS and SMB accesses, to it.
Nexenta also announces an exclusive promotion to VMware Virtual SAN customers by introducing file services via NexentaConnect. The services include a NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN license, unlimited raw storage capacity to match the VMware Virtual SAN licenses period and the day-zero Nexentatechnical support for 12 months.
VMware Virtual SAN is an enterprise-grade policy-driven storage solution for hyper-converged infrastructure optimized for vSphere virtual machines delivering cost-efficient services. VMware Virtual SAN 6.2 will build upon these benefits by further lowering the cost of high-performance, all-flash hyper-converged infrastructure solutions with new features that include data deduplication and compression, and erasure coding.
Deduplication and compression: Deduplication and compression optimizes all-flash storage capacity by reducing data by up to 7 times with minimal impact on CPU and memory overhead.
Erasure Coding: Erasure Coding helps increase usable storage capacity by up to 2x while maintaining the same high level of data resiliency.
“The introduction of VMware Virtual SAN 6.2 is yet another example of VMware’s commitment to driving innovation in virtualized environments,” says Thomas Cornely, Chief Product Officer at Nexenta. “VMware provides an ideal platform for our software-defined solutions, and together, we are delivering flexibility, simplicity and lower cost of ownership for the software-defined data center.”
