Organizations Are Readying for the Future of Consumer Technology

    Apac CIOOutlook | Thursday, May 30, 2019

FREMONT, CA: Healthcare organizations have an ever-expanding number of tools to engage consumers by changing technology at lightning speed. Although health care has lagged behind in terms of digital technology adoption as compared to other industries, it is now at the forefront in some areas. With organizations moving swiftly toward the future of consumer technology, we will certainly see radical changes in consumer care. Increasing consumer technologies, such as wearables, subscription services, IoT and video conferencing and the spread of mobile devices, however, mean that patients start to expect more of their healthcare providers in technology.

In 2018, 60 percent of global health organizations already had Internet of Things technology in place to resolve such problems, and 87 percent of healthcare providers expected to implement IoT solutions in 2019. 5 million people are also expected to be monitored remotely by health care providers in 2023. With online and mobile applications for banking, tax, and other vital services, patients are also seeking the same comforts in their own medical care. In their diagnosis, treatments and medical records patients are demanding greater flexibility and access.

Consumer technology is driving a growing trend in the use of technology for the management of one's health. Sleep trackers and wearables, including fitness trackers, have gone up tremendously well. These devices enable patients to use their own healthcare vital systems on a wide range of devices, such as Kito, in their homes and simply upload biometric data to an application where the consumer can follow it. Wearable technology has also made enormous progress and devices can monitor vitality 24 hours a day, minute by minute, which help a patient avoid the stress of routine medical visits.

Also, wearables like smartwatches can track seizures or send instant warnings to caregivers. The enhanced recording also provides robust data sets that enable doctors to diagnose and treat patients more comprehensively. The test results and formats can now be automatically entered, medical history can be tracked, recitations can be refilled, and automated appointment reminders can be automated.

Consumer technology has an apparent influence on healthcare and ultimately promotes the industry, enables patients to offer plenty of health care options and provides health providers with more devices and better data for better healthcare.
