BEDFORD, MA: Progress, a provider of computer software services and solutions, announces the latest release of NativeScript, which now enables developers to use JavaScript to build native mobile apps for all major mobile platforms.
NativeScript is an open source framework from Telerik, which is a Progress company. NativeScript 2.0 now enables Angular developers to write mobile apps for mobile platforms such as iOS and Android using Angular 2, Google’s JavaScript framework. The NativeScript integration with Angular 2 reduces the cost of building mobile applications as it allows developers to reuse existing skills and code from the web to build their own mobile applications.
Angular JS is a popular open source JavaScript framework used forapplication development and with the release of its latest version, Angular 2 RC, it enables the use of Angular to be used outside of a web browser.
The integration between the NativeScript and Angular solutions reduces ramp-up time and decreases the learning curve as it does not require additional expert developers from other languages to help for a specific platform or for a special usage.
The NativeScript framework is developed and supported by Progress, and is unlike other traditional hybrid or web apps as it uses a platform-native user interface, delivering performance to its maximum capacity. It can also be used to build apps for older Android devices and allows sharing of code between web and native apps as it allows the reuse of skills and code used for writing native apps with JavaScript.
"Angular integration first shipped with our popular Kendo UI library nearly two years ago, and we continue to see high demand for Angular from our community. For the more than one million developers using the Angular framework to write interactive web applications, the NativeScript 2.0 framework represents a giant leap forward—they can finally create zero-compromise mobile apps with Angular featuring truly native UI and performance," says Todd Anglin, Chief Evangelist and VP Technology, Progress.
