RALEIGH, NC: Red Hat partners with Ericsson and announces the availability of fully open source cloud infrastructure to transform the information and communication technology (ICT) market. The new offerings based on OpenStack, software-defined networking (SDN) and software-defined infrastructure (SDI) will enable customers to embrace next-generation communications solutions.
New Developments of the Partnership
The alliance lays stress on “upstream first” approach to counter the customer requirements and accelerate technology innovation for scalable cloud deployments. The joint offering aims to develop NFV infrastructure, SDN and SDI along with certifying Ericsson’s platform and other portfolios of solutions such as Ericsson Cloud Execution Environment, Ericsson Cloud SDN solution, and Hyperscale Datacenter System 8000 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenStack Platform.
Ericsson leverages the Red Hat OpenStack Platform to expand its NFV infrastructure solution to provide a fully agile and open infrastructure. The joint work will further offer easy-to-deploy solutions such as automated deployment and managed services. The combined portfolio aims to advance the businesses in NFV, IT and Data Center towards digitalization.
“Red Hat believes that the future of the communications industry will be defined by modern architectures and open source solutions spanning the hybrid cloud, containers, software-defined infrastructure and NFV. Ericsson shares that belief, and together we can bring the communications industry into the future with open, more secure and highly scalable solutions that enable customers to transform their businesses and deliver on the promise of IoT, 5G and more,” says Paul Cormier, President, Products and Technologies, Red Hat.
