PALO ALTO, CA: Restlet, a provider of computer software solutions, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), an information technology and services provider, announces collaboration to integrate HPE’s Systinet and Restlet’s DHC. The partnership between HPE and Restlet enables users of HPE Systinet to implement DHC from within the Systinet graphical user interface to perform test calls against web APIs.
HPE Systinet is an Application Program Interface (API) management software and Restlet’s DHC is a web-based testing tool for REST APIs.
The new API testing feature allows API developers to try out any RESTful API and test its query parameters, response codes and security. It also enables developers to log responses of calls made in order to document the behavior of the API.
Anytest created with DHC can be saved and allowed it to be reused, automated or included in a broader functional test scenario. DHC features capabilities such as API invocation and interaction, and API testing.
API invocation and interaction
Developers and consumers of APIs can make calls to APIs to validate their functional behavior, testing different parameters and values without writing a program or script, all done through an intuitive browser interface.
API testing
API developers and managers can easily create and run tests and also complete testing scenarios for APIs. Additionally plugins for Maven and Jenkins enable these tests to be added to a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery toolchain.
“Testing is critical at each stage of an API project,” says Jérôme Louvel, Chief Geek and Founder of Restlet. “DHC by Restlet provides essential technology to API managers and developers for validating the features of their APIs, and to API consumers for discovering the behavior of APIs they need to call in their applications. We are excited that Hewlett Packard Enterprise has added the testing capabilities of DHC by Restlet to HPE Systinet and we look forward to supporting users of Systinet in their adoption of these features.”
