EduTECH Asia will once again bring together educators from across the entire education spectrum. One of the highlights of this year’s expo is ‘student voice’ where students will take the centre stage to share their innovations and insights about thefuture learning.

Over 60 students (aged 10-15) across the region will gather at EduTECH Asia 2018 Expo, to compete in the inaugural EduBUILDMasters Hackathon, creating education learning spaces for kids by kids. The key focus for the hackathon is to address a real-world problem that the students face in their existing learning spaces. The ten teams are from both government and international schools, homeschoolers, as well as social welfare organisations.

The goal of the hackathon is to provide a platform where children are encouraged to actively explore problems within existing classroom structures, and design solutions for future classrooms with a focus on inclusiveness, learning effectiveness, and creative stimulus. Following a 6-week preparation process, the teams will showcase their final hacks that incorporate architectural design concepts and emerging technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence / machine learning, robotics, and 3D to senior educators and education professionals attending EduTECH Asia 2018. Curriculum development and program curation was led by the team from It Takes An Island and supported by Design Singapore and JTC.

“With student voice being the focus of many schools today, we at EduTECH Asia, are excited to give students a platform to inspireand interact witheducators, giving new ideas and perspectives. The Hackathon also gives them a fantastic opportunity to polish their leadership, creative thinking and collaborative skills, which are deemed as top skillsets required for the future workforce,” says Sharon Roessen, Managing Director, Asia, Terrapinn Pte Ltd.
