TAIPEI, TW: Synology –a provider of Network Attached Storage (NAS), Data Storage & Surveillance solutions– announces the launch of DS916+. The latest offering is packed with flexible scalability and next-gen data protection solutions to ease the growing needs of professional NAS users. DS916+, a 4-bay scalable NAS is powered by a quad-core CPU and runs on DiskStation Manager (DSM) 6.0.

The versatile add-on packages enable users to perform seamless file syncing and sharing, productive collaboration, and smooth disaster recovery on DS916+.

The DS916+ houses standard with 2GB of DDR3 RAM (upgradable to 8GB) and anIntel Pentium Quad Core CPU. The transfer speeds of DS916+ is 225MB/s read and 221MB/s write, with almost no drop in performance for encrypted transfers (through the AES-NI hardware encryption engine). Synology's hardware-accelerated transcoding engine allows users to transcode and stream 4K and 1080p videos to any devices that are connected to the DS916+.

The Synology DiskStation DS916+ supports real-time H.264 single-channel 4K Ultra HD or triple-channel Full HD video transcoding. Users can effectively turn the DS916+ into a 9-bay server by adding one of Synology's DX513 expansion units increasing the total raw capacity of the DS916+ to 72TB (with nine 8TB HDDs).

"Designed to meet fast-growing businesses' increasing storage capacity demands, DS916+ bridges the gap between costly enterprise level capacity and personal storage that are insufficient for expanding businesses," says Michael Wang, Product Manager at Synology Inc. "With DS916+ and an expansion unit, DX513, businesses can now enjoy flexible scalability and all the powerful features DSM 6.0 delivers."
