In today’s hyper-connected world, organizations across critical industries rely on communication that is fast, secure, and always available.

By

Apac CIOOutlook | Monday, January 06, 2020

In today’s hyper-connected world, organizations across critical industries rely on communication that is fast, secure, and always available. TASSTA was created to meet exactly this need. With more than 13 years of expertise in mission-critical communication, TASSTA has grown into a global technology provider trusted by customers in public safety, transportation, aviation, mining, energy, logistics, and enterprise sectors.

From its headquarters in Germany and through a network of 70 partners and worldwide TASSTA offices, the company delivers advanced software solutions that empower teams to coordinate, respond, and protect - no matter the environment. TASSTA provides a full 3GPP-compliant Mission-Critical Communication (MCX) solution, supporting MCPTT, MCVideo, and MCData, and setting a global benchmark for secure, real-time broadband communication.

Stay ahead of the industry with exclusive feature stories on the top companies, expert insights and the latest news delivered straight to your inbox. Subscribe today.

But TASSTA goes far beyond the capabilities of traditional radio systems.
Where conventional radios provide only voice and limited coverage, TASSTA enables a rich ecosystem of features such as GPS tracking, video streaming, indoor localization, guard tour, lone-worker protection, and emergency management tools - all accessible through standard smartphones, rugged devices, or desktops. Teams not only talk; they share live intelligence, coordinate effectively, and maintain complete situational awareness.

TASSTA fully supports mixed environments where radios and broadband devices work together. With TASSTA’s bridge technology, PMR, DMR and TETRA radios communicate seamlessly with MCX users, dispatchers, and smartphones. This allows organizations to modernize at their own pace, maintain their radio fleets for as long as they choose, and gradually integrate broadband features without disruption. Radios and broadband - once separate worlds - become a unified communication ecosystem powered by TASSTA.

Whether deployed over 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, private LTE, satellite, or hybrid infrastructures, TASSTA ensures that vital information reaches the right people instantly. Today, TASSTA powers communication for thousands of users worldwide, supporting operations where reliability is not optional - it is life-saving.

TASSTA Stories of Success

Below are five success stories that highlight TASSTA’s impact across the Asia Pacific region and beyond.

TASSTA Stories of Success

1. Indonesian Traffic Police – Indonesia

Indonesia’s traffic police operate in some of the most demanding urban environments in the world. Severe congestion, unpredictable road conditions, and high volumes of daily incidents require rapid, coordinated action between field officers and command centers. Legacy systems - limited to voice-only communication - simply could not keep up.

TASSTA introduced a robust MCPTT platform supporting instant Push-to-Talk, live video sharing, GPS visibility, and secure data exchange. Officers now capture and share real-time footage, escalate emergencies instantly, and receive precise directions from headquarters. This has improved situational awareness, reduced response times, and strengthened public safety across some of Asia’s busiest roads.

TASSTA solution used: MCPTT platform with T.Flex for officers and T.Rodon for command centers.

2. T Mission by Deutsche Telekom – Germany

As Germany began its national shift from traditional radio systems to broadband MCX communication, Deutsche Telekom launched T Mission - an initiative designed to bring modern communication capabilities to first responders. The challenge was immense: maintain radio-grade reliability while enabling video, data, and advanced coordination tools.

TASSTA became the technological core of this transformation. Its 3GPP-compliant MCX suite provides reliable Push-to-Talk, mission-critical video, location services, and emergency handling across agencies. Police, firefighters, medical teams, and infrastructure operators use T Mission to communicate and collaborate in fast-moving, high-risk environments - setting a new European standard for digital public safety.

TASSTA solution used: Full 3GPP-compliant MCX suite powered by T.Quasar, T.Star and T.Galaxy.

3. Václav Havel Airport – Prague, Czech Republic

Airports operate like living ecosystems - thousands of people, strict safety protocols, and continuous operations across terminals, runways, and service zones.
At Václav Havel Airport, outdated communication tools made coordination slow and inconsistent, affecting both safety and efficiency.

With TASSTA, the airport unified communication for security teams, ground handlers, maintenance crews, and terminal operations. Staff exchange information instantly, escalate alarms with real-time GPS visibility, and coordinate through a centralized dispatch environment. TASSTA has enhanced operational fluidity, improved emergency readiness, and ensured a safer, more connected airport experience.

TASSTA solution used: T.Flex for mobile teams, T.Rodon for centralized dispatch, T.Lion for secure infrastructure.

  • We believe technology should adapt to people, not the other way around. Guided by freedom of choice, knowledge, and customization, TASSTA builds mission-critical communication solutions shaped by real operational needs.

4. EVAG Public Transport – Erfurt, Germany

Public transport systems rely on precise coordination across vehicles, depots, and control centers. EVAG, which operates Erfurt’s tram and bus network, needed a communication system capable of handling daily operational challenges - from route adjustments to incidents and maintenance alerts.

TASSTA delivered a unified communication platform enabling instant group calls, real-time updates, and seamless integration across the entire fleet. Drivers report issues in seconds, dispatchers adjust operations immediately, and maintenance crews receive information without delay. This has led to smoother transport services, faster incident response, and a more reliable passenger experience.

TASSTA solution used: T.Flex for drivers and field staff, T.Rodon for transport control rooms.

5. Becker Mining – South Africa

Mining operations are among the most demanding and dangerous environments. Becker Mining required a communication system that would work deep underground where traditional networks fail, provide worker visibility, and enable immediate emergency escalation.

TASSTA deployed a powerful on-premise solution running over local underground Wi-Fi. With lone-worker protection, fall detection, indoor localization, and instant communication, supervisors gained full visibility into worker movement and safety. Emergency alerts reach the control room instantly, ensuring that response procedures begin without delay - a critical advantage in high-risk environments.

TASSTA solution used: Local T.Lion deployment, T.Flex, Lone Worker Protection suite, indoor localization.

6. KHG – Nuclear Emergency Response Organization, Germany

KHG operates at the highest level of safety and emergency preparedness within Germany’s nuclear energy sector. Responsible for stabilizing plant operations and coordinating response actions during critical incidents, the organization must maintain flawless communication between command centers and on-site response teams—even under extreme conditions.

TASSTA delivered a resilient, mission-critical communications environment connected to dedicated campus LTE/4G and 5G networks and integrated with the existing DAMM TETRA radio system into one seamless platform. The Radio Gateway ensures interoperability across networks, and communication remains available even during a network blackout via satellite backup.

With Push-to-Talk and Push-to-Video, live video streams from drones and mobile robots provide real-time situational awareness, enabling faster and better-informed decision-making during emergency operations.

TASSTA solution used: Hybrid MCPTT T.Lion deployment integrating public mobile networks, campus 5G, T.Bridge for DAMM TETRA, satellite backup, T.Flex Push-to-Talk, Push-to-Video, and drone/robot video streaming.

Evolving Role of Surveillance in Security

Surveillance cameras are commonly perceived as vigilant observers, aimed at deterring crime. In reality, many of these cameras serve a passive function. They primarily act as a deterrent or offer valuable evidence when incidents occur. For instance, if your vehicle is stolen, you often hear, “Check the CCTV footage.” Although they are not constantly actively monitoring, these cameras play a crucial role in promoting safety and providing insights after an event has taken place. This scenario is however changing, and fast. Artificial intelligence is aiding surveillance cameras with the appropriate acumen to help the ‘watchful eyes’ to analyze live video footages, without requiring any human to govern it. This can be highly beneficial for public safety as it would help police and first responders to spot crimes and accidents easily. On the other hand, biometrics, which has remained a part of the security narrative for years now, is maturing evermore rapidly; allowing for retinal scanning, facial recognition, and even sitting posture, heartbeat, and body scent to recognize a human being. The age of privacy may have fallen behind, but security is still something everyone has to consider. Turning at the corner of a new reality, where abundantly available personal information makes it possible for criminals to target practically anyone, one would need to do more than just ‘employ’ the latest in security technology. Alongside, drones, which have been in use in the consumer market for quite some time now, have only recently started to become more common as a method of surveillance and security. Security drones can do everything from snapping pictures of suspicious or illegal activities, to actually chase down and follow potentially dangerous suspects. Some surveillance drones can hit speeds as fast as 50 miles per hour, and may also have the advantage of LED or infrared lights to better capture pictures and video. These new advances suggest public life can still be secure in an increasingly exposed world.  Check out:  Top Drone Technology Companies ...Read more
