The three largest cloud providers in the world Amazon Web Services, Google and Microsoft, have all released their financial earnings for the quarter spanning from July to September.
FREMONT, CA:These three technology giants have been competing with one another for market supremacy while dominating the worldwide public cloud and cloud services market for years. According to Gartner, global end-user spending on public cloud services will reach a record USD 592 billion in 2023, a 21 per cent rise from USD 490 billion in 2022.
According to Gartner's vice president and analyst, cloud migration is continuing. Because of its flexibility, scalability, and agility, cloud computing will continue to be a haven for innovation and safety, sustaining growth in unstable times.
AWS (NASDAQ: AMZN), Google Cloud (NASDAQ: GOOGL), Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Earnings
On September 30, 2022, the third quarter finished for all three companies.
While Microsoft's first fiscal quarter of 2023 was the three months from July to September, that was Amazon's and Google's third quarter for the year.
The critical thing to remember is that Microsoft doesn't separate its cloud operations as a separate business segment and hasn't yet provided precise dollar amounts for its flagship Azure cloud product. Instead, Microsoft incorporates Azure(NYSE: AZRE) and more cloud services within its Intelligent Cloud Division.
During their earnings reports with the media and analysts last month, Google CEO and Microsoft CEO both expressed optimism about their firms' futures in cloud computing as the market continues to grow. The new CEO of Amazon missed the company's most recent earnings release.
Here, companies analyse AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft's cloud financial performance for the third quarter of 2022 in terms of total revenue, sales growth, operating income, and overall global market share, as well as what the executives of each firm had to say about their cloud results.
AWS continues to dominate the industry in terms of total cloud revenue.
Sales for the Seattle-based cloud behemoth increased from USD 16.1 billion years over year to USD 20.5 billion during the quarter.
Microsoft approached the established market leader, but a direct comparison is impossible because it doesn't break out Azure as a standalone unit, instead bundling its other cloud service sales into the Intelligent Cloud section. Revenue from the Intelligent Cloud division increased from USD 16.9 billion to USD 20.3 billion during the quarter.
Google Cloud, situated in Mountain View, California, increased its third-quarter sales from USD 5 billion to USD 6.9 billion.
