SINGAPORE: Veritas Technologies, a provider of information management services and solutions, secures a position as a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery Software for the year 2016.
Veritas technology enables customers to realize benefits whether backing up to the cloud, or protecting workloads in the cloud as its NetBackup Cloud Connectors simplify the move to the cloud with single-click integration for a wide range of major cloud service providers including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Nearline Storage, Hitachi Cloud, and almost any Amazon S3 compatible cloud storage platform.
The NetBackup Appliances provides seamless integration and fast deployment that scales with performance and provides integrated deduplication that reduces the cost of protecting petabytes of data. The 'store front' in NetBackup Self-Service empowers IT and managed service providers to deliver backup and recovery as a service to internal and external customers, whether on premise, or in a public or private cloud.
The NetBackup 7.7 also includes Copilot for Oracle, the protection and management of Oracle Database data allowing DBAs to independently manage backups on their own schedules, maintain visibility across all storage tiers, and recover from any available copy while allowing backup admins full visibilitythrough NetBackup. The NetBackup Intelligent Policies automate discovery and policy based backups to reduce risk and ensure constantly changing VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V and SQL, and Oracle environments are always protected.
Gartner’s Magic Quadrant
The 2016 Magic Quadrant by Gartner measured 15 comprehensive criteria to rate vendors based on their strengths in the market. The Magic Quadrant comprises of four Quadrants: Leaders, Challengers, Niche Players and Visionaries.
The vertical axis of the quadrant measures the vendor's ability to execute. Criteria such as product or service, overall viability, sales execution/pricing, market responsiveness/record, marketing execution, customer experience and operations are included in the evaluation.
The horizontal axis of the quadrant measures the vendor's completeness of vision. It includes criteria such as market understanding, market strategy, sales strategy, offering (product) strategy, business model, vertical/industry strategy, innovation and geographic strategy.
