BANGALORE, INDIA: VMware, a provider of computer software and solutions, announces that its AirWatch Mobile Device Management solution has sold over a million licenses in India. The company also announced that India was one of the fastest growing markets for its end user computing business solutions globally.

The advent of the mobile-cloud era has caused enterprise mobility to become a trend for businesses world-over. Mobility has the ability to enable organizations to become more competitive and successful as it has the potential to affect employees, customers and business interactions.

VMware AirWatch Mobile Device Management is a solution which helps businesses address the challenges associated with mobility. AirWatch enables businesses to deal with these challenges by providing a simplified and efficient way to view and manage all devices from a central admin console. The solution enables businesses to enroll devices in their enterprise environment quickly and configure and update the device’s settings over-the-air, securing the mobile device.

According to a report by IDC, India represents one of the fastest growing smartphone markets in Asia-Pacific. With a growth rate of 28.8%, smartphones shipments to the country crossed 100 million units in 2015. The smartphone market in India is expected to maintain a double-digit growth rate as devices become more affordable.

A report by IAMAI and IMRB International, states that mobile internet users in India are expected to cross the 350 million mark by mid-2016 and may cause business mobility to become a top priority for Indian enterprises.

“Enterprise mobility is a trend that is fundamentally redefining the workplace, its technology, and even how, when, and where people work today,” says Arun Parmeswaran, managing director, VMware India. “We, as an end user solution provider, play in the center of this revolution, with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions that enable organizations to adopt true business process transformation. India represents one of the top growth markets for VMware when it comes to End User Computing and, as a leader, we are excited about the opportunities that are emerging for our business,” he added.
