Why Leaders Need to Adopt Digital Transformation

By Apac CIO Outlook | Saturday, April 03, 2021

Digital tools can enable planning and monitoring internal processes, allow transparency and accountability throughout all management levels, and build customer trust.

Fremont, CA: As the COVID-19 pandemic impacts the trends of how organizations carry out business and how individuals will forefront digital transformation. For organizations that are struggling, technology can be a ray of hope. At the same time, some organizations will shift to reliable technology platforms or adopt a cloud-native applications approach.

Here are three major factors leaders will need to focus on as they lead organizations:

    Designing digital culture

Digital technologies help create efficient internal organizational processes that ensure high-quality results for customers. Leaders need to show the purpose and intent, continually educate their employees on its entire mission and vision.

Digital tools can enable planning and monitoring internal processes, allow transparency and accountability throughout all management levels, and build customer’s trust. However, leaders need to check the suitability of the implemented tech tools concerning organizational needs and objectives.

Leaders can encourage open ways for working in their organizations can allow a more inclusive and participatory process by implementing an Open Decision-Making Framework.

Prioritizing data ethics and data security

The advanced digital transformation and enormous use of big data and innovative technologies like AI mean leaders will face dilemma combine with ethical concerns. It is important to re-examine who owns risk for these areas in the organization. Slacking in managing sensitive data practices can cause irreversible damage to the organizational brand and reputation. Leaders need to establish an example and introduce clear expectations by detailing ethical practices regarding sensitive personal data and highlighting the related risks.

    More collaborative digital leaders

Social scientists are assessing and understanding the influence of digitization on organizations and society and the role of leadership in designing organizations. A strong digital culture is needed where leaders are key actors and champions. It has become imperative to bring various, dispersed stakeholders for optimized alignment and partnership. The collaborative process should be skillfully implemented, and leaders need to address and handle the critical ethical concerns.
