As a part of the improvement process, the firm has developed EVORELUTION, an open-pit mine scheduling solution that harnesses a variety of optimisation techniques. This solution provides strategic values, which maximise the value of mining projects through detailed tactical schedules and focus on equipment utilization. However, in October 2014, Maptek acquired the open-pit scheduling tool and renamed it as EVOLUTION.
