PAM: Intelligent Navigation for Smart Cities

    Follow PAM on :

    Stephen Minning, Founder and CEO
The term ‘Smart city’ has grown from a buzzword to reality over the years. Smart tech enables visitors or citizens to take advantage of all that a precinct, district, or city has to offer, with relevant information and content available in real-time. Unfortunately, administrators often deploy layer upon layer of unrelated technology, in the hope of trying to make the place smarter and more user-centric. In reality, each layer makes it more challenging for administrators to manage their district and deliver great visitor experiences. Additionally, very few of these technologies address the changing needs of people using these spaces every day. Set against this backdrop is PAM’s game-changing cloud-based solution that helps cities or districts to replace a number of unmanageable point solutions (digital signage, kiosks, map apps, events directories) with single system. PAM powers dynamic information for visitors and helps organizations to implement and control their connected environmental navigation and communication system.

Our mission is to get people where they want to be, quickly, easily and safely

“As cities or precincts become more complex and intimidating, it’s important to make navigation easier for people and elevate the experience by providing frictionless journeys,” says Stephen Minning, founder and CEO of PAM. The company helps people to seamlessly connect to places that include stadium and entertainment precincts, universities, city districts, retail districts and the like.

“Our mission is to get people where they want to be, quickly, easily, and safely,” says Minning. PAM OS uses information from different sources like IoT sensors, facilities management information, and building information management systems to power PAM’s intelligent solutions. These solutions include the navigation solution— PAM 360 explorer and the information solution—PAM 360 connect. PAM provides frictionless navigation from any point in the city or precinct with live traffic flow, last-minute event changes, full parking lots, road closures, or pedestrian re-routing updates, displayed on detailed 3D maps.

Through the PAM OS platform, facility managers can maintain the environment and ensure that the digital record of precinct signage and navigation points is always accurate.
The marketing team can use PAM to connect visitors with the experiences and products they are looking for, underpinned by reliable information that’s always accurate, in real time. The business case is self-evident; the platform maximizes cultural engagement, improves the local economy, and drives revenue for businesses and district owners.

To provide a deeper understanding of the company’s offerings, Minning shares the success story of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Over the years, UTS has welcomed thousands of new students. As the UTS campus has evolved and become more complex, it has become increasingly important to provide a smarter campus for students. UTS worked closely with PAM to create a digital ecosystem of physical and digital signs using PAM OS. Through PAM, students and staff are able to save a tremendous amount of time and resources in locating places within the campus, using Kiosks throughout the campus, or through campus navigation on their personal device.

PAM continues to develop its solutions to maximize customer satisfaction and property optimization. PAM is using technology to make precincts more responsive, and to better handle ever-increasing citizen and visitor needs. With a vision of reaching out to more customers globally, Minning emphatically states, “We believe that the best solution needs to take into account cultural variations and be designed for each customer,” concludes Minning.
