The soaring popularity of the open platform has enabled enterprises to change the way they operate business priorities, workload, and IT strategies. At the vanguard of driving the adoption of open platform solutions in Indonesia is a professional computer consultant, Global Infotech Solution (GIS). “Since our early founding days, our core focus has been on providing open platform solutions in line with IBM’s strategy,” says Amon Fernandes, managing director of Global Infotech Solution. Accredited as an IBM Business Partner, GIS was incorporated in 2015 to specifically help customers manage their IT operations and enhance business performances using IBM Power Linux solutions.

The powerful IBM open platform requires a skilled consultant for its effective implementation and being associated with IBM for over 25 years, makes GIS the ideal advisor.

“We have been recognized as IBM’s Top Power Linux and Growth Systems Business Partner for three consecutive years,” extols Fernandes.

GIS brings to the table a portfolio of best workload hardware, software, and networking system. The company strongly believes competency is the key to success and has invested time and resources to bring together a team of experts for the implementation of the IBM open platform. “We have resources and capabilities that offer one-stop support to implement Linux open source operating system locally, especially in the IBM platform,” says Fernandes.
In fact, the Linux platform can be deployed in its entirety without the customer making much of an investment.

As a certified IBM partner and an early adopter and player in IBM Linux on Power, GIS’s esteemed clientele range across multiple sectors such as manufacturing, financial services, insurance, hospitality, education and more.

GIS is mainly focused on helping clients produce measurable results through customized and process-driven solutions. GIS focuses on the Linux Operating System (SUSE) where they implement OS Security and OS High Availability starting from installation configuration, bug fixing, tuning, to customer assistance, everything is taken care of by the company.

The team at GIS is proficient in offering system design, landscape consultation, infrastructure configuration, clustering implementation, and multi-tier backup services for Power Linux. GIS also provides non-appliance infrastructure consulting, infrastructure configuration, SAP HANA setup and configuration, SAP HANA storage and backup for customers requiring SAP HANA on Power. The company is the first infrastructure partner for SAP HANA on Power in Southeast Asia.

GIS’ expertise in IBM solutions can be best exemplified by the sheer ingenuity displayed by the team when they resolved the pain points for a plantation company. A Sumatra-based plantation company that was remotely located in a forest environment with heavy rainfall and fluctuating temperature required server hardware. The IBM server installed proves to be resilient and is functioning to date. Another instance is of the largest goods importer and distribution company in Indonesia. They experienced exponential customer growth and their business model required them to work 24/7. The requirement was for a robust and easily accessible system, which was addressed when the client decided to opt for SAP with IBM technology from GIS and have never looked back ever since.

The company’s short-term plans include expansion into Southeast Asian countries like the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. As a key partner of the business transformation movement, the GIS team firmly believes that cloud and AI will define the future. To better align with the upcoming cognitive era, they have created a team to develop solutions that utilize machine learning and artificial intelligence. “We have also partnered with other leading companies to provide industrial solutions that would eventually go hand-in-hand with the IBM system,” concludes Fernandes.
