Quantum Inventions: Dynamic Navigation Technology for the Intelligent Transportation System Industry (ITS)

    CIO VendorSaurav Bhattacharyya, CEO
Transportation forms a critical part of the backbone for any country’s economy. In the past few years, the transportation industry has seen a rapid growth and transformation with the heavy augmentation of automobiles on the roads. As this sudden increase in the number of automobiles can easily lead to congestion and the fact that road space is at premium in Singapore with about 12 percent of the land already committed to road space, the founders of Quantum Inventions, a provider of navigation, telematics, traffic info and GIS solutions realized that using dynamic traffic information with routing and navigation along with parking availability information can be a smart choice to guide drivers through less congested alternatives and ease the traffic. Spun out of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2012, Quantum has grown to be an eminent player in South East Asia providing dynamic navigation information services, connected navigation software solutions and ITS technologies for urban transportation in smart cities.

Saurav Bhattacharyya, CEO, Quantum Inventions, says “Leveraging on our knowledge base and a suite of products in traffic, navigation and routing technologies, we lead the development of innovative solutions that help to build Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for Smart Cities.” Today, Quantum with its expertise and experience in maps, data analytics and GIS technologies, successfully extends its services over a wide range of organizations including the Land Transport Authority (LTA), Singapore Land Authority (SLA), the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF), the Defense Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) and the Port of Singapore Authority (Global PSA).
For Quantum, its clients in the public sector of Singapore have been most co-operational with the technology and its implementation. The company facilitates its services to these organizations by analyzing the data gathered by the sensors and crowd sources which reveals the patterns related to human behavior and decision making in transportation.Traffic intelligence data enables commuters to make informed decisions on alternative routes to reach their destination. This information also enhances driver safety by allowing them to avoid incidents and accidents on major roads and expressways.

Quantum’s Urban Smart Cities Transportation Platform is a smart city solution that enables transformation of raw traffic and transportation data into meaningful analytics. Authorities can identify emerging trends in urban transportation and formulate better policies to aid urban planning by analyzing dynamic traffic patterns, observing the mobility trends and performing simulation and mobility analytics. Furthermore, it aids in improving road utilization, cutting congestion, emissions and noise; determine where to place buses and build mass transit stations to ensure they operate at full capacity; and improve emergency vehicle response times. Google Maps and Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) has collaborated with Quantum to integrate traffic data into their travel planning platform for commuters.

Presently, Quantum stands efficient in creating cutting-edge solutions to be at the forefront of mobility intelligence and connected mobility in smarter cities, developing intelligent transport systems and better understanding transportation patterns to bring about improvements in road safety, efficiency and sustainability. From a geographical point of view, Quantum has already established itself as a pioneer in the ITS industry across south-east Asia. The company plans to expand its reach further into the countries of middle-east and other parts of Asia.
