rise-x.io: The Productivity Company Much More with Much Less

    ,Rowan Fenn, Co-Founder & CEO, rise x.ioRowan Fenn, Co-Founder & CEO
At rise-x.io, our purpose is to increase the carrying capacity of the planet.”

Founded on the belief that the application of new and emerging technology will catalyze the industrial re-invention, this planet-forward company is applying existing and emerging technologies to digitalize and automate industrial value chains and supply chains to eliminate waste and improve productivity

“Our solutions enable companies to do exponentially more using exponentially less.”

The population is growing larger, living longer and getting richer, driving increasing demand for energy, food, water, and minerals. In the context of the global climate emergency, this presents companies, communities, and nations with an acute and existential challenge. Here, rise-x.io stands out from the crowd with the team’s unwavering commitment to building digital solutions that help companies to do exponentially more with exponentially less to increase the carrying capacity of the Planet.

“In a world where industrial productivity gains are becoming increasingly marginal, we want to offer industrial companies the opportunity to be different. We want to provide forward thinking companies with a competitive advantage at the click of a button and a fraction of the cost,” says Rowan Fenn, rise-x. io co-founder and CEO. “We help companies who share our purpose, vision, and values to increase market share, grow revenue, and improve operating margin, but above all, to reduce their impact on the environment which we all share.”

“Our focus is on delivering exponential gains in productivity by eliminating all forms of waste,” says Fenn. Using digital technologies, including cloud services Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, and Internet of Things (IoT), rise-x.io is building highly connected, trust-based, decentralized enterprise ecosystems with the capacity to operate autonomously and at a global scale. The team at rise-x.io imagines a future where enterprise customers delegate daily operations of physical assets and infrastructure to its Ecosystem Orchestration Platform (EOP), which it calls DIANA. DIANA will, in turn, coordinate and manage the world’s largest and most interconnected robot, our global industrial supply chains.

When asked why we need autonomous industries operating at a global scale, Fenn adds context by sharing his motivations behind rise-x.io. He describes himself as a father, a scientist, and an optimist. “As a father, I have a sense of responsibility to my children and their children to spend time on the problems that will impact their generation. As a scientist, the question of how to address the global climate crisis completely captivates my attention. It forces us to think differently and to approach the problem at a structural or systematic level. Marginal productivity gains are simply not good enough, and we need to elevate our thinking beyond the boundaries of the enterprise and look at how we can unlock value for entities and stakeholders at the ecosystem level.” For some, or even most, the realities of the global climate crisis generate a sense of helplessness or even hopelessness, but as an optimist, Fenn believes we will find a way to adequately address this challenge. At rise-x.io, the folks believe that they can build the digital infrastructure required to support autonomous trade and commerce, improving resource productivity and liberating human capital to focus on the world’s most pressing challenges.

Given the context which this team operates in, it is easy to begin to imagine a world where global robotic supply chains are an inevitable outcome, even a necessity. But an opportunity of this scope and scale attracts global competitors large and small in the market, which is generally recognized as slow to adopt digital technologies. When asked about the unique advantages that rise-x.io believes it has over incumbents and new entrants, Fenn sums it up in two words: “unbeatable simplicity.”

We build management systems for industrial companies, which can fundamentally transform their businesses, and focus on how they generate much more output using much less input

The importance of end-user adoption to the long term growth and success of its business is not lost on this ambitious start-up. It is a B2B business, but likes to refer to itself as a B2P company, where the “P” stands for People. “While we sell our products to enterprise clients, our customers are People, and People have expectations about how software should look and feel and what kind of experience it should provide,” informs Fenn.

We make our products simple for People to love and simple for the enterprise to buy. We want to put industry 4.0 in the palm of every employee at the click of the button and a fraction of the cost. If it’s simple to buy, simple to implement and simple to use, we are confident we can win.

The team is uniquely positioned to deliver on these objectives. Described as the perfect mix of young and old, fearful and hopeful, cynical and naïve, the rise-x.io team has decades of past experience working for some of the world’s most recognized technology firms where they designed and built enterprise solutions for the world’s largest and most complex companies in capital intensive industries (oil and gas, mining, marine, utilities, agriculture, construction, and more).

The company builds products that are complementary to existing enterprise technology stacks, with a focus on seamless integration with legacy systems and rapid time to deployment. rise-x.io currently measure deployments in weeks but want to measure it in minutes and then seconds. The company has approached the challenge of new technology and blockchain adoption differently to most of its competitors by making these new technologies easy to consume. This demonstrates to clients what its products do rather than explain how they work. In addition, since they already work, are flexible, adaptable, and scalable, they are easy to buy.

In its 2nd year of operation, the team has been able to demonstrate its capability and capacity to engage industry at the highest level. It has delivered working products on its DIANA platform together with joint venture partners from the industry. QuayChain is the world’s first cloud-based digital platform designed to manage and automate the marine fuel bunkering process end to end, from sourcing and procurement through to contract settlement and everything in between. BioPass is the world’s first comprehensive solution to help shipowners manage Biofouling and to improve vessel and hull performance.

Both QuayChain and BioPass are cloud-based products and replace traditional contract management systems, logistics planning and optimization tools, operations management systems, and financial management systems with a single interface to manage and automate workflow end to end.

Findings from both projects demonstrate that these blockchain-driven management systems can successfully reduce process cycle times by more than half, eliminate paperwork, significantly reduce cost and risk, and improve transparency across an end to end business process. “Every transaction is fully auditable, immutable, and can be shared with 3rd at the discretion of the companies who produce and own the data,” adds Fenn. Every company in the supply chain benefits from better operations management capability and less hassle. Customers using rise-x.io systems were able to significantly reduce their cost to serve and were able to manage more than triple the workload without increasing staff capacity. “It’s much more with much less, and it’s easy to consume and to use. It is a competitive advantage at the click of a button!” he illustrates.

The future is evidently bright for rise-x.io, which is expecting to grow and continue to mature its management software. Fenn and his team have presented at more than 50 industry conferences in every major market on the Planet, fast becoming recognized as leaders in enterprise blockchain solutions. The company is focused on commercializing its existing IP through the development of QuayChain and BioPass as well as other niche use cases in existing and adjacent sectors. They currently operate in Australia, Singapore, and Europe and exploring opportunities to establish a presence in the UAE and the US.
