SDI Plastics
Bringing Quality into Plastic Manufacturing

Introduced to the world of plastics as a child, Kulbir Dhanda, Director of SDI Plastics knew he shared his father’s passion for business and manufacturing when he was first introduced to it. This is what motivated him to join the family business after pursuing a degree in International Business from Griffith University. Dhanda’s passion for plastics and his vision to redefine the injection moulding market pushed him to carry forward the legacy of SDI plastics in engineering high-quality fabrication of plastic parts for various industries. Although organizations today are more inclined toward a circular economy of plastic recycling, Kulbir however, intends to take the path less travelled. His aim is to develop solutions which revolve around injection moulding and other tools to create a revolutionary form of plastic that is completely biodegradable or dissolvable.

Having been in the industry for over 19 years, the company is at the forefront of producing award-winning designs and products that are used in plastics manufacturing, injection moulding and tool making. “From the top down, we are committed to designing and making high quality moulds that can manufacture plastic components as envisioned by the customers,” adds Kulbir. Due to their thorough understanding on the overall manufacturing process, SDI Plastics has been successful in making better quality products and components that run more efficiently in the production landscape. The company also utilizes 3D metal printing for manufacturing some of their components to enable better efficiency and optimization of the moulds. Dhanda believes that the company’s flexibility with the clientele, resourcefulness and efficiency in delivering the right products along with a result-driven game plan is what differentiates SDI Plastics from its competition in the industry.

From the top down, we are committed to designing and making high quality moulds that can manufacture plastic component as envisioned by the customers

Irrespective of the simplicity or complexity of the project, the SDI Plastics team gives their complete effort to manufacturing quality parts, and also places a great emphasis on delivering them on time. “We provide a lot more than knowledge, experience and the technical know-how to our client-supplier relationships by following a personalized approach to establish robust relationships,” adds Dhanda.
The clients that have partnered with SDI Plastics have the opportunity to tap into the company’s global network or supply chain set up and benefit from the team’s extensive knowledge in cultural negotiations, market response, resourcefullness, and service delivery. The company, through meticulous design engineering, explores and calculates the most fitting ideas to aid clients in exploring new strategies and helps them become more competitive in the market globally. “We invest in robust long-term partnerships with our clients, that is exactly what keeps us moving forward in the industry,” claims Dhanda.

SDI Plastics’ accomplishment in the industry is evident from their of over 90%customer satisfaction rating. Recently, SDI Plastics had taken up a project where they optimized a client’s mould and 3D printed a particular component, closing their bottleneck of greater cycle time in bringing the product to the market. The company not only succeeded in reducing the client’s cycle time by about 45 percent, but also saved them a lot of expenditure by improving the efficiency of production using that particular injection mould.

Driving ahead, SDI Plastics is pursuing new technology partnerships by capitalizing on the latest technological advancements in the industry. With research and development in full swing, the company is working toward using metal 3D printing and has projects currently under development. Dhanda anticipates the growth of the plastic injection moulding industry to flourish in the upcoming years with great business prospects. The next step for the company is to double the size of our manufacturing facility and increase their employee headcount to meet the growing needs of business. “We want to improve and sustain the level of service that we have maintained with our customers going forward,” concludes Dhanda.
