In the quest to develop a simulated environment that will enable firefighters to practice drills necessary for dealing with extreme emergency situations, one of the civil defence forces sought Serious Games International Ltd’s (SGIL) assistance. SGIL delivered two large scale virtual environments which were leveraged to deliver classroom based role playing with after action review. The firefighters trained and practiced command, control and decision making skills in case of an emergency situation. Thriving on their expertise in delivering Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality-enabled training and product design that involves multi-user collaboration, and collaborative working and training, SGIL provides large scale immersive simulations, 3D visualisations in virtual and augmented reality and gamification applications.

The year 2016 ended with a certainty—augmented reality trends will drive both technological investments and innovations in 2017. And with predictions of AR revenue to reach $90 billion by 2020, the doors of opportunities have just opened for technology vendors. Taking the front seat is Serious Games International. The firm leverages VR, AR and MR to deliver Simulation, Visualization, and Gamification services. “We are only focused on enterprise and are going with the trend of Industry 4.0 digital factories with AR and VR enabling us in our growth path,” says Ron Edwards, CEO, Serious Games International Ltd. (SGIL). Using cutting-edge technology the firm develops digital solutions on multiple platforms to a wide range of clients across industry sectors to enable them run their operations faster, cheaper and more effectively.

Our simulations help clients train and visualize collaboratively in 3D using immersive technologies including AR smart glasses and VR headsets

The firm provides three main assortments of simulation services which includes Driving Simulators, Equipment Simulators, and Procedure Simulators. Serious Games International build immersive 3D simulations to provide the clients’ employees with a safe training environment enabling them to go through a range of scenarios they are likely to face in the real world and even ones they probably won’t—but should be ready in the event they do occur. Employees can learn and practice real world physics, haptic feedback, identifying components in an industrial set up and even procedures that must be followed in dangerous, highly regulated or high financial risk environments. By combining the expertise of leading edge hardware, 3D environments and AI development with the ability to integrate motion systems, the firm builds skills and confidence of an employee by providing a virtual environment to test their dexterities.

What adds up to their prestigious plethora of simulation services are the Visualization, and Gamification services. While Serious Games International’s Visualization services combines the Virtual and augmented reality solutions to help their clients in visualizing complex data and equipment, dangerous environments provide interactive field maintenance support, through gamification the firm integrates game technologies and mechanics to motivate engagement, learning and behavior change. “Our projects support individual and/or team achievements, are delivered as smartphone, pc or tablet apps and can utilize quiz style games through AR smart glasses and VR headsets,” adds Edwards.

With a wealth of valuable cross-industry experience in their arsenal, Edwards firmly believes that the firm’s expertise in leveraging MR, VR and AR, and high-end visualization is what differentiates them and moving ahead the firm aims to work much more around the 3D visualization using AR and MR. Serious Games International aspires to be at the forefront of the impressive 3D visualization around products integrators and tools in the design process.
