From the outside, Artificial Intelligence presents an image of a glamorous industry taking wing in the 21st century. In the age of Google Assistant, Alexa, Cortana, and of course Siri, more over iPhone X face ID, pilotless automobile, and many others as you name, it is easy to assume AI is as good as it gets. However, what people do not realize is how much and what kind of back-end work goes behind producing these AI applications. No doubt, data is just as crucial as algorithm, especially in the era of Deep Learning. But, the production of training data remains an essential but masked element. And that’s where Speechocean comes into the picture with their comprehensive data service. The firm from Beijing, China, is amongst the select group of well-known providers of data resource and data solutions. Devoting itself to delivering qualified databases and efficient services for its academic and industrial customers, Speechocean helps clients create diversified values in the field of Pattern Recognition and Human-Computer Interaction.

Make no mistake, AI is data-driven industry where the saying often goes – “Who owns the data, owns the future.” As reported by IDC, the global date aggregate will increase to 40ZB in 2020, which is 22 times of the same in 2011. However, most of these data can’t be used for machine learning until they are structured and labeled, which requires a large amount of human efforts.

With high cost-efficiency rate, Speechocean established themselves as a world leading data processing service provider covering nature language, image, and video, and allows its customers concentrate on their core technology and operation.

The firm provides various types of databases and data services in nature language, including speech and text, with more than 110 languages and accents, covering over 70 countries and nations around the world. Language data service is including data designing, collection, transcription, annotation, validation, lexicon development, linguistic services, and a lot more. These services cater to many technical fields like speech synthesis, speech recognition, machine translation, web search, and nature language understanding. Beside of language data service, the firm also provides huge amount of off-the-shelf speech and textual databases. Amongst them, there are more than 200,000 hours of speech database, above one million entries of pronunciation lexicon for 72 languages and textual database for 60 languages.

Speechocean also provides image and video data collection and annotation service, including facial & expression images, OCR and handwriting, traffic surveillance video, pilotless automobile driving, and much more other AI applications. In the last two years, Speechocean’s data processing capacity has increased by 300 percent with just 30 percent increase in manpower. The firm now can process about 20,000 hours of speech data per month and close to one million images a month. Besides everything mentioned, Speechocean continuously puts in efforts for cost reduction while fast tracking delivery speed, adopts new technologies to increase output, optimizes project management process, maintains a strict quality control system, and hires well-trained manpower to ensure greater standards.

Although Speechocean boasts of an impressive services portfolio, ranging from customer-centric technologically advanced services, globalized data collection and processing, professional project management, and guarantees high quality and efficiency. The one aspect that makes them a truly unique company is their team. Speechocean sees its team as the core asset, consisting of fresh graduates from top universities in China and an experienced staff providing stability.

Already in a long-term business relationship with a slew of big enterprises, Speechocean intends to explore new territories and markets and also contribute towards catapulting start-ups into the big league. Further, Speechocean looks forward to keep improving and upgrading their system and meet the ever growing client requirements.
