Sunwave Communications: Wireless Tech for Today and Tomorrow

CEO,Li Jun, Executive , Sunwave CommunicationsLi Jun, Executive , CEO
5G is here. The network of networks that can provide a connected world with a seamless digital experience is starting to take shape. With enhanced mobile broadband, lightning-fast download rate, and connected machine communication, 5G will make smart factories, augmented reality, and autonomous cars a commonplace. However, there are few more years ahead, at least for the global deployment and widespread popularization of the new cellular technology. The cost of 5G infrastructure development for a single operator is extremely high; along with it, the ROI for operators remains unclear. As a result, operators want to support all generations—2G/3G/4G/5G— together for a period of time and share the coverage of an area with other operators to reduce the investment in 5G infrastructure. How to have a simple architecture that can help the operators with this requirement?

This is where Hangzhou-based company Sunwave Communications comes into the picture. It has launched a new mode of joint construction and sharing of the neutral host where sharing access network and 5G frequency resources reduce investment costs significantly and improve network speed bringing better 5G network experience. Sunwave’s digital optical distribution system supports multi-network and multi-operator mode as well as Open Radio Access Network (ORAN) standard. With a modular design, easy extension, and flexible configuration, the system allows low wireless signal loss and cost reduction, thus finding applications for rail transit coverage. “Our products innovatively support all 5G frequency bands worldwide making one system to support all operators and all 2G/3G/4G/5G network bands,” says Li Jun, Executive CEO of Sunwave Communications.

Further, Sunwave’s intelligent hierarchical communication management system has signaling-level wireless signaling security management and control functions, low-power consumption, intelligent shielding, black and white lists, full-band sealing, and control. These are combined with video recognition technology to customize end-to-end solutions for customers, which is more compatible with 5G and IoT wireless security. The system has accurate control in perimeter up to 5 meters with no interference to the upper link. The company also supports ORAN compliance and cooperate with ORAN core network manufacturers to launch a number of RU products supporting operator frequency band and CBRS and other private network frequency bands. With these 5G ready solutions, Sunwave is the first company to launch N2RU low-power products supporting the global 5G frequency band.
Sunwave is committed to providing professional products and operating services in wireless coverage, wireless security, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), wireless network, broadband satellite communications, communications facility leasing, mobile Internet, digital marketing, and other fields. Highlighting the same, Li Jun mentions an instance wherein the company deployed a mobile communication system for KlangVally MRT Line 1 in Malaysia and was widely appreciated for its services. With Malaysia having multiple mobile operators and technologies, the coverage solution for MRT Line 1 has to be multi-operator multi-technology, 24/7 monitoring system, and close to maintenance-free as access is highly limited during operations. Sunwave was entirely responsible for the design, material supply, installation, and commissioning of the mobile communication system, which consists of 7 underground stations and approximately 19 km of underground tunnels. The company deployed its CrossFire High Power (HP) DAS product to extend mobile signals coverage. Supporting up to 40 km of fiber length also eliminated the concern of fiber distances raised by the length of tunnels and stations. Sunwave delivered the turnkey project on time and on budget with high quality enabling passengers to enjoy a comfortable ride with the fully operational cellular network in the metro. Similarly, in another instance, Sunwave provided a full band wireless control system for the G20 Summit held in Hangzhou China in 2016, which made significant contributions to the security of the world leaders.

Our products innovatively support all 5G frequency bands worldwide making one system to support all operators and all 2G/3G/4G/5G network bands

Founded in 1993, Sunwave is at the forefront of mobile communication network construction and mobile Internet information services. The company was among the first few listed companies in the area having listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2007 [stock code: 002115]. Sunwave has established its global presence with R & D centers in North America and China, as well as salesforce coverage in around 20 countries. The company stays unique by leveraging its expertise acquired from over half a decade of experience and its continuous investment in RF and wireless technology research and development. Sunwave spends more than 10 percent of the revenue for investment in R&D. The company has various advanced technologies and patents, including software radio technology, signal digital processing, efficient RF power amplifier technology, to name a few. Sunwave also supports key technologies such as 5G ultra-wide bandwidth full-standard transmission and RF transceiver technology.

Moving ahead, Sunwave plans to continuously release a series of products (which are compatible with 5G frequency bands) with customized frequency bands and powers. The company aims to cooperate with advanced ORAN core network manufacturers in the industry to provide rick RU products and support standard enhanced common public radio interface (eCPRI) protocol. Sunwave also will launch several LTE and 5G small cell products to support the global market. In terms of geographical expansion, the company looks forward to covering more than 30 countries globally by the end of 2020. The digital edge of 5G, Sunwave, is on the right path to fulfill its mission of unveiling the seamless experience brought in by 5G for the future and ensuring a connected world for today and tomorrow.
