Digitalizing the Physical World

Trakomatic ushered in the modern business world with a simple but humongous mission—A mission to 'Digitalize Planet Earth'. Founded in 2013 with their headquarters in Singapore, the firm's answer to the question, 'How can technology be deployed to serve people better,' is delivered by leveraging sensor and video technology. Specialized in using advanced video analytics sensors to digitize physical space, Trakomatic is empowering people and businesses, to make smarter data-driven decisions. "Providing end-to-end products ranging from data capturing to prediction, we are helping our clients, at different digitalization stages, to easily adopt our turnkey offerings," states Allen Lin, CEO and Co-founder of Trakomatic.

More than 90 percent of the video footage, from CCTV cameras, are never reviewed and hoarded in cold storage. Changing the intention of CCTV from passive, post-event evidence to a repository enabling proaction, Trakomatic is transforming the traditional 'dumb CCTV' into 'Smart IoT sensors' by converting the video stream into data points about human behavior— enabling people tracking, path tracking, crowd density measurement and age, gender, facial expression, ethnicity, and facial recognition. Lin highlights, "Our approach, from Data Capture to visualization to insights derivation helps clients mitigate business challenges in a cost-effective manner."

Trakomatic’s sensor-agnostic platform has benefited brick and mortar stores, retail sector, government and public sector, to name a few.

The firm has developed more than 25 use cases, for government agencies, ranging from queue measurement analytics, space utilization analytics, seat occupancy measurement, visitor tracking, visitor demographic profiling, zone utilization tracking, and attendance taking. Furthermore, Trakomatic is using its services for assisting people with disabilities. Monitoring foot trail within one of their client's large indoor spaces, the analytics from the data captured helped the client refurbish the layout, to make it friendly for the disabled, young parents with strollers, and the elderly, and also provide real time alerts to announce their arrival for positioning of service personnel.

Trakomatic has worked relentlessly for the total entreprise-scale deployment of their entire set of offerings in a high porosity environment and yet has gained acknowledgment. Having attained IMDA certification of minimum 90 percent accuracy and received ASEAN ICT Award in 2016, Trakomatic's products OTrail, OTrack, and OSense have gained recognition for their robustness and stability.

Intricately balancing their vision with reality, the firm has been flexibly adapting their entry in both developing and developed countries by assessing the inhibitors to the progression and by providing viable solutions. The company continues to invest into product development and have been pushing the frontiers in detecting ethnicity, facial expression, and gaze detection. Lin adds, "Trakomatic R&D direction primarily focuses on two aspects—strengthening our data capturing capabilities with new technologies and strengthening our deep learning capability in data analytics." Their R&D into emotion detection is helping several organisations to assess and enhance the service qualities at the public facing agencies. Lin asserts, "We have adopted a multiprong approach in business model, channels development, and support ecosystem and we are more concerned with equipping nations rather than penetrating for profits. The statement of 'The rest is history...' is what we will be pursuing."
