Velocis: Setting the Standards of Knowledge Management

Atul Bansal,MD, Velocis SystemsAtul Bansal, MD
In the business world, knowledge is currency and undeniably, knowledge might seem scarce when organizations need it the most. The ability to comprehensively gather, share, and analyze organizational knowledge not only enables individuals and teams to achieve their objectives better, but also prevents employees from constantly “reinventing the wheel”. This is where the India-based System Integration company, Velocis Systems’ Knowledge Management solution — KM Plus comes into play. KM Plus brings to the table a collaborative tool for employees to generate, organize, refine, and disseminate knowledge within the organization. In the words of Atul Bansal, Managing Director, Velocis, “Majority of the important information is tacit information that remains confined to employees, and it costs billions to organizations each year as this important information is either not shared or not retained.” To address this challenge, the Velocis KM Plus provides a consolidated enterprise knowledge management framework that aids users to leverage the collective knowledge of the enterprise collaboratively to work efficiently and more productively.

KM Plus is developed on IBM Technology stack comprising of IBM WebSphere Portal and IBM Connection as primary solution components. Moreover, for an enhanced end-user experience, KM Plus has an incorporated rich User Profile that encourages relevant work interaction and workflows that seamlessly blend existing daily tasks with the KM activities. The omni-compatible platform also comes equipped with a powerful cognitive search engine. Having encompassed the entire array of native IBM Connectivity features, KM Plus facilitates the creation and capturing of knowledge and workflows along with their submission, evaluation, enrichment, and publication. It also constitutes a centralized storage and repository that accommodates all the knowledge assets and a self-service portal that can be leveraged to resolve issues or get queries answered with the best possible solution residing in the repository. Adding to the credibility of KM Plus is the fact that the solution has propelled Velocis to be ultimately acclaimed amongst the finalists of IBM Beacon Award 2017 as an Outstanding Collaborative Work Solution Provider. The award recognizes Velocis’ achievement across a range of solution areas–including IBM DX, Watson, and Analytics– in bringing businesses into the cognitive era.

Velocis’ customer-centric solutions meet the analytics and enterprise-scale computing of IBM to deliver unprecedented value for businesses

Apart from the robust KM Plus, Velocis delivers integrated business solutions for end customer’s use. For example, Velocis started its collaboration offering journey about and year and a half back and with its expertise of delivering audio-video integration solutions including media devices and vast experience of designing, deploying, and sustaining large portals, workflows, and collaborative systems Velocis conceptualized an adaptive, flexible, content driven Digital Signage Solution for enterprise needs. As one of the top Cisco partners in the country and with a deep expertise in areas of datacenter and infrastructure, the company offers dynamic, scalable, software driven, and secure Enterprise Networks. IoT being one of the most happening trends today has encouraged hardware OEM’s to expose API’s for their devices and Velocis combines these Hardware API’s and its Software Development knowledge to deliver modern age user centric comprehensive solutions with an option to be managed through Velocis NOC – Network Operations Center.

Pillared on its depth and breadth of knowledge and skills in implementing turnkey solutions, Velocis has served over 300 clients across mid-market, manufacturing, BFSI, Government/Public Sector & e-commerce. One such client is a leader in Exploration & Production (E&P) activities in India who once encountered significant challenges in capturing and utilizing the knowledge that was scattered across multiple locations and confined within specific regions, disciplines, or domains. The problem was further compounded by the impending superannuation of a large proportion of its employees over the following years. Velocis addressed this issue by customizing the IBM Portal and Connections to provide users with an easily accessible knowledge repository and collaborative features along with a special module to capture superannuating employees’ information. In addition, the cognitive collaboration of Watson explorer enhanced the solution’s overall impact and usability to the manifold. “Our customer-centric solutions meet the analytics and enterprise-scale computing of IBM to deliver unprecedented value for businesses,” asserts Bansal.

Recently, Velocis has built a comprehensive ASP-GSP solution — Go4GST, to help customers align and remain compliant with the biggest tax reform by Government of India called Goods and Services Tax (GST). At present, the firm is also working on enhancing Digital Signage solutions that would enable organizations to deliver digital media messages including operational reports, statistics, and progress accomplishments. As IBM continues to position itself as a cognitive and AI behemoth, Velocis is simultaneously working on utilizing IBM’s functionalities to deliver avant-garde solutions to contemporary businesses.
