Verizon Connect: Field Service Automation for Better Management

Jim McKinlay,GM, Verizon ConnectJim McKinlay, GM
Field Services automation has lately become the buzz word de jour. With the biggest push in the industry being made by IoT, Field Services has been given a makeover for the 21st century.“Verizon Connect provides the connectivity and data insights that enable customers to be more informed about the vehicle and worker location, efficiency, safety, productivity, and compliance,” says Jim McKinlay, General Manager of Verizon Connect.

Verizon Connect is automating, optimizing and revolutionizing the way businesses and vehicles move through the world. Its industry-defining solutions and services leverage innovation, automation, and connected data to make businesses safer, efficient and productive. The company can do this as a result of simplifying access to the technology for customers and by offering an improved user interface. Verizon Connect provides extremely fast web-based maps that are device agnostic and only requires an internet connection. With the option of near real-time activity tracking and current status of all the vehicles in the fleet, customers are given a 360-degree view of their fleet and equipment at all times, no matter the location. The data and insights that it offers help fleet managers make informed decisions that are based on driver performance, use of vehicles, fuel and time.

The right field service management software can help customers manage resources and job requirements on the go while reducing administration overheads

The other side is that it also guarantees that customers have a great experience and it ensures that the vehicles and equipment are used efficiently. “The biggest benefactors are the clients.” With better fleet visibility and the identification of the fastest route, Verizon Connect’s fleet tracking and management platform enable its customers to improve asset utilization, saving time and money. Keeping mobile workers organized and on track can be a challenge. Verizon’s solution can help customers manage resources and job requirements on the go while reducing administration overheads. Verizon Connect’s solution also offers an intuitive and easy to use dashboard that shows essential trends across the organization’s entire fleet. This also gives customers the opportunity to review their progress towards maintaining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and budgetary requirements with up-to-the-minute fleet analytics.

South Australia-based Aussie move, a packing, storage and moving solutions provider had issues with journey detours and lengthy vehicle stops, which caused significant delays for clients. It also increased fuel usage and labor costs. However, after implementing Verizon Connect’s fleet tracking software, it saw a reduction in payroll, fuel wastage, an improvement in vehicle safety and better fleet management efficiency. The solution also enabled the business to monitor staff, vehicle movements and helped to ensure only the most efficient routes were taken.

Verizon Connect is investing more in R&D than ever before as it considers this edge in future-proofing customers’ businesses and enduring partnerships with them. In the last year, the company has increased its R&D investment globally by 35 percent and has constantly been innovating with new technologies and solutions to stay ahead of the competition. The firm’s Network Operations Centre (NOC) monitors billions of system interactions a day, providing valuable insights into customer usage and system performance trends.
