    Viettel IDC: Redefining Excellence in Data Center Management

    CEO,Hoang Ngoc, Viettel IDCHoang Ngoc, CEO
    A ride from the Noi Bai International Airport into Vietnam’s center gives us a glimpse of what the country has to offer. A land usually known for its staggering natural beauty–rivers, beaches, pagodas–cultural complexities, dynamic megacities, and vast agricultural terrains among tourists, Vietnam is currently gaining popularity as an attractive and promising destination for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) investors. In fact, the country is augmenting its efforts to become a data center hotspot by the end of 2020. Set against this backdrop, if there is one company that can be truly credited for the advancement of cloud computing, storage, network, security, and data center services, it is Viettel IDC. }

    A pioneer in R&D, experimentation, and implementation of the latest data center technologies, Viettel IDC is recognized for providing outstanding quality, high security, and optimal costs. Intending to maintain the leading position in the Vietnamese cloud and data center market, Viettel IDC brings premium technologies like DCIM, IoT, Big Data, and more to the table to serve customers better.

    It all began in 2008, when Viettel IDC, an arm of the Viettel Group, embarked on this journey to provide Vietnamese customers with the highest quality and most secure data center services. In fact, it is one of the first companies in Vietnam to operate on the data center construction and provision business. “Our number one objective is to optimize customer’s costs, ensure information security, and always support customers with a ‘serving attitude’,” remarks Hoang Ngoc, CEO at Viettel IDC. The company is the first and only unit in Vietnam to offer a full-service ecosystem and state-of-the-art technologies to its customers.

    According to Hoang, the data center management and operation is becoming a challenging endeavor for enterprises who seek to focus on value-adding tasks. To that end, Viettel IDC was established to assist organizations looking to optimize and boost the Rack and U coverage rates. “We are helping clients overcome their problems by providing colocation services starting from 1U,” says Ngoc. Besides, clients can expand their services at any time. Viettel IDC offers cutting-edge data center management software, and comprehensively implements DCIM tools to perform real-time supervision of data center resources. Taking innovation a notch higher, the company is planning to implement AI in the calculation of energy consumption and efficiency.

    Viettel IDC is the “only unit” in Vietnam certified with ANSI TIA-942 Rated 3 Constructed Facilities. The company currently owns five data centers nationwide that meet stringent requirements of infrastructure, technology, and safety. The robust data centers serve the requirements of clients belonging to disparate sectors–single-service individuals, government, banks, multinational companies, digital service providers, and many more.
    Also, to ensure disaster prevention, the data centers are constructed in accordance with the DR–DC distance standard. Strictly protected by five layers of security, the company’s data centers are designed and operated as per telecommunication, architectural, electrical, and mechanical guidelines. “We have also received high evaluation from EPI in terms of the cutting-edge technical system and modern operational equipment,” adds Ngoc. To sum up, Viettel IDC’s decade-long relentless developments and efforts enable it to minimize the risk of customers’ business interruption in disaster events and efficiently safeguard IT architecture through the highest level of backup.

    Our number one objective is to optimize customer’s costs, ensure information security and always support customer with a “serving” attitude

    Viettel IDC’s data center offerings can be broadly classified into four categories–collocation, dedicated server rental service, interconnection services, and data center design. Colocation–or rental of equipment–is suitable for financially stable businesses, and meets the desire to place servers in Tier 3 data centers. This ensures high transmission speeds and 24/7 technical support to customers’ long-term running projects. The company’s collocation services ideally exist in two forms–rent spaces under U or Rack, or rent a private area. The service also delivers the installation space for infrastructure, power, cooling, and other relevant equipment to deploy customers’ IT systems at their sole discretion.

    Viettel IDC’s dedicated server rental services aim to serve customers who require separate server systems with a high configuration for project development or have massive volumes of data to deal with. Eradicating the need for customers to invest initially, Viettel IDC’s dedicated server rental services impart full-control to the implementation provider to operate, manage, and maintain the server infrastructure and hardware equipment. Besides, the company interconnection services ensure a fast, stable connection between the data center and customers’ offices, or customers’ system and its end-user.

    As part of its interconnection services, Viettel IDC provides dedicated channels for connecting and transmitting information between the customer’s internal network and the telecommunication network. With customers’ IT systems established at separate connections, Viettel IDC corroborates that none of the bandwidths are shared at any given time, thereby meeting the necessity of catering to diverse services such as voice, VPN, internet applications, and more. By constantly upgrading its services leveraging the network of international service providers, Viettel IDC sets the seal to provide its customer with top-notch, stellar services.

    The perfect combination of Viettel IDC’s penchant for excellence and its proficient services makes it a quintessential choice among customers. In the coming years, the Hanoi-based firm, with the support of its top-class technologies, plans to strengthen its data center infrastructure. “We aim to continue the implementation of new technologies such as DCIM, Cold Aisle Containment, Cool Wall, Liquid Cooling, Air Economizer, and others on infrastructure as well as operation management to optimize the efficiency of equipment, cost, and human resources,” says Hoang. In essence, Viettel IDC plans to continuously upgrade its systems to meet higher standards such as TIA942, Uptime, LEAD, SOC1, and many more. Moving ahead, the company will leave no stone unturned to maintain its market-leader position in the data center realm.
