Gem3s Technologies: Ushering a New Era in Telemedicine

    Director - Business Development,Michael Allwyn , Gem3s TechnologiesMichael Allwyn , Director - Business Development
We live in a digitized world where everything from booking a cab, buying groceries, ordering food, to paying monthly bills, and watching the latest entertainment shows is possible from the convenience of our homes. However, when it comes to telemedicine, both doctors and patients are dubious about the efficacy of healthcare delivered remotely. As such, acceptance from the patients’ perspective and recognition in the healthcare industry are two major hurdles that telemedicine is consistently trying to overcome. Against this backdrop, Chennai-based Gem3s Technologies comes as an agent of change. Driven by the motto, “Always Think Ahead”, the company has come up with a preeminent patient health and telehealth solution platform—InstaPract—that aptly fits the bill when it comes to bringing healthcare at ones fingertips. Director of Business Development, Michael Allwyn asserts, “We are here to improve affordable access to quality care by removing traditional barriers such as distance, mobility, and time constraints.”

InstaPract is a white label telemedicine solution platform that supports and scales for all healthcare institutions from personal clinics to hospital chains, supporting multispecialty and offsite doctor consultation. At its core, InstaPract is a cloud-based solution, which can also be deployed on-premise to operate as an organization’s extended Personal Health Record (PHR) solution. Gem3s’ HIPAA and COPPA compliant exhaustive platform comes with a plethora of features and functionalities that comprise personalized push notifications, integrated payment gateways, and reviews of X-Ray, MRI results, and lab tests that can be shared with the patients. The platform is accessible on both web and mobile interface wherein the features are offered in a plug and play model so that users can choose and customize the software as per their requirements. With optimized efficiency, enhanced customer experience, and quality healthcare delivered at an affordable cost, InstaPract brings immense value to patients and physicians alike.

The intuitive platform provides an easy sign-on option for both patients and doctors and is accessible once the mandatory information is keyed in. On signing up, patients can seamlessly choose the right doctor, clinic, and medical center to book an appointment in seconds. Through real-time video consultation capabilities, the software effectively reduces healthcare risks to a certain extent, improves the quality of services, and cuts down on the time consumed in traveling to care facilities and clinics. Post consultation, the patients can review the doctor they consulted and pay using their card. The multi-party video consultation enables multi-disciplinary care teams with annotation, file sharing, and display of medical reports for reference during the consultation.

We are here to improve affordable access to quality care by removing traditional barriers such as distance, mobility, and time constraints

The Patient History option helps to keep a record of the consulted doctors and the digitized medical reports, which can be exported to the doctors for future reference. With an e-prescription technology, InstaPract allows physicians and other medical practitioners to write and send digitized prescriptions to the patient, instead of using handwritten notes. To consult with the doctor via texts during the appointment duration, patients can also opt for text encounters. A Reference/Referral option can be accessed by doctors to provide written orders to consult with certain specialists, super specialists, or receive medical services. They can also provide documentary evidence of the patient’s absence from school or work for health-related treatments under the work absence note section and also upload X-Rays, scans, lab tests, and specialist referrals that the patients can download as individual PDFs.

The telehealth mobile app helps doctors and patients consistently stay connected on the go using advanced WebRTC and ensures patients direct access and connectivity to effective virtual care. Organically growing with increasing traffic and user database without any support for additional expenses, the application promises unprecedented scalability. Moreover, it enables secure messaging, call access control management, call presence connectivity detection, and voice-only ability. To further reinforce security, Gem3s stores medical files in an encrypted manner on offsite servers, which are only accessible with unique login credentials that are entered by doctors or patients.

Apart from the telehealth platform, Gem3s focuses on custom EHR/EMR/PHR, Hospital/Clinic Management and Veterinary software development and integration services. In case of EHR/EMR software development, the company incorporates unique features like scheduling, demography, and history to ensure spontaneous response by doctors and easy access to patient demographic information. These software increase the e-prescribing capabilities and strengthen personal data security by placing constraints upon different user’s access to particular patient information. With regards to EHR/EMR integration, Gem3s offers billing integration services to reduce payment delays and process fee settlements at a rapid pace. The EHR/EMR integration between healthcare labs and hospitals enables a two-way communication channel, facilitating quick access to all the supporting information and research on the lab results. “We also offer Personal Health Record (PHR) software development for interoperability and portability with EHR, health information exchange (HIE), public health, clinical trial, collaborative care, and insurer and payer systems, for secure sharing and transmission of health data and storage in a central database,” explains Allwyn.

For e-prescription integration, Gem3s ensures a uniform network of integrated systems, which conform to HIPAA standards. In addition, with high flexibility in clinical content design within the host application, the company offers exceptional extensibility. Gem3s also brings custom templates for a hospital/clinic management software system to let doctors write e-prescriptions in less time. This also increases customer satisfaction as appointments can be made online with ease and the software works on all platforms along with providing appointment and medicine alerts to the scheduled patients. The company also engages in the development and integration of billing and invoicing platforms, payment gateways and processors, and physical devices to facilitate point of care, traditional billing, and online payment options for veterinary medical device integration.

Currently, Gem3s is looking forward to the launch of its PHR and telemedicine platform as a SaaS platform in the Indian market. In the upcoming years, Gem3s plans to work and expand in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions and also in Southern and Eastern African regions.
