The opportunities for AR in the classroom are many, technological devices like tablets and laptops have opened doors for students to explore and continue learning in exciting new ways

Fremont, CA: Introducing technology in the classroom has not only impacted profoundly on learning but also equipped students with digital-skills to succeed and thrive beyond the classroom.

Teachers can incorporate different applications of classroom technology to enhance learning, such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Implementing these technologies in the classroom is essential for empowering students.

Here are three ways how AR can be implemented in the classroom to bring better learning experience:

Setting up AR in the classroom

Identify the key objectives and focus on implementing AR in the classroom before introducing it. Goals may be different depending on classes, but developing a plan on how AR needs to be integrated to boost lesson learning will make it more effective. It will include the objectives of AR in lessons, evaluating the available technology, and the classroom infrastructure that can be used to support the AR.

    Creating AR Content

To take the student’s understanding of AR to the next level, provide them with an opportunity to create AR content in school. Hands-on learning will greatly benefit students as these types of lessons contribute to a 75 percent retention rate of information.

This will eventually enable them to explore a topic or subject further, while simultaneously building upon and enhancing their knowledge and application of technology in a new area.

    AR as Visual Aid

Augmented reality can bring lessons and textbooks to life by combining video, photos, and audio in an interactive platform. This will enable students to engage in learning complex subjects and topics, as it will make it easier to understand. There is a huge library of AR apps and experiences to support lessons across math, science, history, and more.

While technology has become a vital part of classrooms, there is still no widespread adoption of AR in classrooms. Implementing AR in the classroom can improve lessons and help students to learn more about various media applications, the process of content creation and development, and presentation skills as well. Moreover, students can boost their learning by creating AR experiences themselves, which will help equip them with critical digital skill set.
