Device Technologies has experienced double-digit yearly growth, mostly through acquisitions that have both broadened and complemented its product and solution range

FREMONT, CA: With the support of NTT, Device Technologies, which provides medical solutions to hospitals and healthcare professionals across Australia and New Zealand, is able to deliver better patient results and innovation. The reason for transformation for Device Technologies was an aging data center infrastructure that was close to its revelation.

The resulting hybrid IT architecture includes a hyperconverged data center infrastructure for core services and cloud-based apps and services for other business applications, which was implemented with NTT's assistance. This new infrastructure gives it the stability, security, and scalability it needs to support ongoing business expansion and diversification, as well as Digital Transformation and the creation of creative new services – all with the goal of improving patient outcomes.

For the past 10 to 15 years, Device Technologies has experienced double-digit yearly growth, mostly through acquisitions that have both broadened and complemented its product and solution range. The company expanded into Southeast Asia as a result of its own acquisition by Navis Capital Partners in 2019. Device Technologies today manages over 70,000 distinct items from 200 different brands, adding to the complexity.

Graham Cronin, Device Technologies' CIO stated that they are an agile organization, so they are glad to disrupt themselves since the industry is changing so quickly and the way things are going, the company is going to have to digitize their procedures and services in order to make it easier to provide equipment to medical practitioners and doctors. They also need to be able to quickly acquire companies and bring them on board.

In order to remain agile and responsive, Device Technologies has a two-tiered acquisition strategy. In case the product line being brought on is complementary to SKUs already in the system, then the acquisition will be brought into Device Technologies SAP ERP system. An integration layer provides the connection between the two business systems if the acquired business is already running successfully along with a separate product line, until the time is right to consolidate.
