How is Wi-Fi Connectivity Transforming the Digital Economy?

By Apac CIO Outlook | Tuesday, July 30, 2019
    Tweet

Internet connectivity is playing a crucial role in driving business growth and deciding the place of organizations in the new digital economy.

FREMONT, CA: The Asia Pacific region is steadily moving toward digitalization with the proliferation of Wi-Fi connectivity. It has contributed significantly to the digital economy, facilitating enhanced collaboration between businesses and employees. The improved internet services have empowered organizations to easily connect with their customers using apps, websites, and digital devices.

Reliable Wi-Fi is becoming integral for business processes and tasks across different sectors, including payments and interactions with customer and vendors. Business leaders and enterprises are realizing the value of Wi-Fi in facilitating effective connectivity and driving business growth.

    Check out: Top Wireless Companies

The Asia Pacific State of Wi-Fi Study reveals that connectivity downtime over the past year cost organizations over $51 million. Also, almost one in two organizations in the Asia Pacific region experienced close to six connectivity downtimes over the last twelve months, with one in ten reporting more than 20 instances of connectivity downtime. The report reveals the vitality of efficient Wi-Fi connections in business organizations.

Post downtimes, IT departments often spend a considerable amount of time in managing network-related issues. It will not only divert time and resources from IT departments but also make it challenging to focus on new initiatives aimed at boosting productivity. Since Wi-Fi is the pillar that supports the fundamental operation and processes of the organization, it can lead to considerable disruptions and revenue loss, hindering productivity as well as investment and growth opportunities in the dynamic and competitive landscape.

The impact of Wi-Fi is far-reaching since the number of internet users increases every day. The global numbers are expected to reach 5 billion according to the projections, which trace the new arrivals to the Asia Pacific regions. Also, over 58 percent of businesses and IT organizations are leveraging Wi-Fi connectivity for streaming videos and voice calls. The consumption of data-heavy content and the increase in connected devices have turned out to be the critical drivers for high-speed and reliable Wi-Fi connectivity.

The primary concerns for organizations in the Asia Pacific region are connection speeds, internet service coverage, and connection stability. Apart from business organizations, government agencies are also investing in internet services for their smart city initiatives. However, when implementing connectivity, organizations should also consider efficient security measures to protect their connected infrastructure. When all is said and done, user experience and security are the most important factors that will decide the future of organizations in the digital economy.
