    Digital marketing is the marketing of a product or a service over the internet. It encompasses all marketing efforts that use an electronic medium. Digital marketing is deeply embedded in our daily lives as we spend most of our online. Organizations have extensively started using digital mediums for their marketing campaigns. Companies use various platforms like search engines, social media, emails, online shopping websites to connect with current as well as prospective customers for their marketing campaigns.

    It has also helped businesses to launch marketing strategy according to a customer’s need. According to Pew research, the number of adults using the internet on a regular basis is increasing by five percent every year. The primary aim of marketing is to meet the customers where they are already spending time, in this case, the internet.

    Digital marketing trends have surfaced in recent times. A few are listed below:

    Snack Ads: Most customers prefer watching videos over reading, that’s why companies focus more on video advertisements. People have a very short attention span nowadays, keeping this in mind companies have started making their ads as short as possible with all the necessary information to garner the attention of their potential customers. Snack ads are video ads which are less than ten seconds long and are capable of getting a brand’s message to the customers.

    Augmented Reality: companies use augmented reality and virtual reality to give customers a better feel of their products. Virtual and Augmented Reality give customers a chance to try out different designs before making a purchase.

    Blockchain: customers are exposed to a lot of online content today which makes it hard to make them sit through an advertisement. The blockchain is used to make a customer sit through an endorsement by giving them incentives. Basic attention token (BAT), a cryptocurrency is used to provide incentives to a customer for sitting through an ad.

    Voice Search: Companies are making their voice commands more effective which will improve the interactions between customers and applications. Voice search will enhance a customer’s experience as it will allow them to multitask. Many companies like Google, Apple, and Amazon are working to improve their voice assistants.
