Optix Solutions: Riding the Cognitive Tech Wave to Business Optimization

Founder & CEO,Spencer Fung, Optix SolutionsSpencer Fung, Founder & CEO
The journey of Optix Solutions began in 2010, the time when cognitive technology did not have much popularity. In fact, no one believed that AI could be commercially viable or implemented to enhance business operations. “During that period, companies in Hong Kong were very traditionalistic, they followed a conventional approach to operations and maintenance works, which was tedious and time-consuming,” states Spencer Fung, founder and CEO of Optix Solutions. Looking at the challenges experienced with the traditional approach and recognizing the value of technological innovations and its ability to improve business efficiency and reduce costs, Fung along with his proficient team established Optix Solutions to change the face of conventional business operations through embedded AI and cognitive technology.

Fast-forward nine years, Optix Solutions has established itself as a renowned cognitive technology solutions provider specializing in artificial intelligence, big data analytics, machine learning, natural language processing, and workflow optimization. “We help customers integrate AI, machine learning, and big data analytics into their business workflows to automate and optimize processes such as planning, scheduling, predictive maintenance, and resource scheduling,” remarks Fung. With more than a decade of experience in AI rich system design, the Optix R&D team has successfully assisted many companies in various industries to automate and optimize the workflow of operations.
From being purely service-based to a more product-based business, Optix has grown to offer innovative solutions to the aviation, banking and finance, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, and facility management industries across the world. The company works closely with clients and allows them to customize their model on Optix’s AI platform considering the usability, practicality, scalability, and implementation factors. The resultant workflow optimization model is then integrated into the company’s existing operations. “Our solution visualizes real-time data, predicts operation demands, and provides the optimal suggestion for handling various situations in business operations,” remarks Fung. “We combine human and machine intelligence to obtain insights from the prediction model and turn it into actions to help the day-to-day business operations while saving entire operations costs by 45 percent,” adds Fung. “In case of maintenance, the model predicts equipment malfunction and allocates resources to resolve potential failures.”

We combine human and machine intelligence to obtain insights from the prediction model and turn it into actions to help in operations

In addition to the process optimization paradigm, Optix’s AI-enabled platform provides the framework to collect data from the target websites, internal database, or emails and translate it into structured data. This enables organizations to save time in processing documents, and thus frees up human resources to work on critical tasks and gain a competitive advantage over business rivals. What makes Optix a game changer is their distinctive AI platform, which uses advanced technologies such as NLP and text mining to help organizations in the legal and finance industries to process a large number of legal documents. For instance, one of Optix’s signature projects involving a global credit rating company in Mainland China required to process a huge number of litigation documents to extract important information. Optix’s AI system saved human effort and increased the quality of operations achieving a 95 percent success rate in information extraction.

The upcoming months will see Optix trying to make their solutions more generic and flexible in order to shorten the development cycle, be accessible to companies of all sizes, and bring down the development costs. All in all, “We want everyone in the business community to enjoy the benefits of AI technology,” concludes Fung. “To achieve that feat, we are building standard application templates to accommodate and facilitate our AI system across the different industries.”
