    Xerox: Streamlining Document Management

    Jeff Jacobson,CEO, XeroxJeff Jacobson, CEO
Which are the events that make the year 1938 worth remembering? An obvious answer would be World War II and the Munich agreement. Though these are the most prominent events of 1938, not many people know that the year also marked the invention of the first xerographic image by Chester Carlson. The legend who created text in a makeshift laboratory in Queens, NY believed the world is ready for a viable and cost-effective way to make copies.

However, Carlson was proved right only after a discouraging ten-year search for a company that could transform his imagination into a useful product. It was only in 1946 when Carlson convinced the researchers and executives to license electrophotography at the Haloid company of Rochester. The photo paper maker company capitalized on the great promise of xerography for transforming communication technologies and became a multinational company—Xerox—within a very short period. Focusing on the three core pillars of innovation—automation, analytics, and artificial intelligence—the firm addresses the complexities of governments, small and mid-size businesses, large enterprises, and graphic communications providers in over 160 countries. “Xerox has world-renowned capabilities, industry-leading technology and know-how, and a talented, high-performing team dedicated to delivering exceptional service to our customers and partners,” mentions Jeff Jacobson, CEO of Xerox.

    A Peek into the Services

Xerox’s myriad of services includes Document Transaction Processing, Enterprise Content Management, Management Print, and Workflow Automation. The firm offers document management technology to ensure that its clients’ information remains accessible, flexible, and secure.
It enables businesses to increase control over communications spending and improve the relevance and consistency of customer-facing documents. With document transaction processing services, businesses can streamline and automate workflow by transforming paper-based operations into digital ones. It enables businesses to capture, transform, process, store, and deliver information in a digitalized manner. Furthermore, workflow automation enables the company’s global customers to move away from bloated operations and optimize the productivity by replacing manual, repetitive, and error-prone tasks with automated workflows.

    Connecting Office Workflow

To improve workflow processes and increase bottom-line profits, Xerox efficiently manages the analog to digital transformation by turning multifunction printers into “workflow assistance.” The firm’s arsenal of office products includes desktop printers, office printers, multifunction, scanners, office software, and shop Xerox. These printers are ideal for small business environments and come with features such as vibrant coloring and black-and-white printing.

    Working towards Customer Goals

Paul Ramirez, President of Barrington Press in Paramus, New Jersey had an issue with the firm’s offset presses resulting in downtime, set-up, and over time that made it difficult to meet the needs of the organization and attain the established goals. To address this issue, Ramirez approached Xerox for a turnkey solution, and the answer was to go digital with Xerox iGen 5 Press. “If someone would have told me how much money I’d be saving each month using the Xerox iGen 5 Press, I wouldn’t have believed it,” says Ramirez. “When we combined the excessive paper waste, overtime wages, and offset press supplies, the numbers were staggering.”
This offering enabled Barrington Press to deliver high-quality printing with quick turnaround of the businesses.

    A Partner for Data Protection

Organizations today face unprecedented threats from cybercriminals in the form of ransomware. These data thieves and miscreants seek vulnerabilities where information in documents or hard drives can easily be obtained. To prevent the breaches caused by the theft or loss of data, the firm integrates technology and industry expertise to streamline or modify work processes. The company takes a strategic approach to printer security that includes device detection, document and data protection, intrusion prevention, and external partnerships with its information security vendors. Xerox’s Managed Print Services brings an improved security channel while streamlining the workflow and optimizing resources. Also, with Xerox User Analytics, enterprises can identify compliance breaches and monitor equipment use.

Since its genesis, the firm has always been at the forefront of innovation and has accomplished many milestones in its journey. The company has established partnerships with many industry giants with Fuji Xerox collaboration formed in 1962 being the most prominent one. Together, both the companies invest more than $1B in R&D programs each year. Also, there is an exclusive global community of Xerox customers who are leading print and marketing services providers across the globe. The members of the group benefit from peer-to-peer networking, education, and other such regional events.

Over the years, the firm has been a trusted partner for many of its clients in banking, education, government, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail sectors. Under the leadership of Jacobson, the firm is committed to work for the shared goals of their customers and help them to maximize productivity. As the company’s CEO, he leads a global team that is committed to deliver superior customer experience, drive innovation, and optimal quality for which Xerox is acclaimed worldwide.
