How Digital Contact Tracking has become Inevitable during the Pandemic

Digital contact tracing offers various advantages over the global use of conventional contact tracing and alternative digital surveillance methods.

FREMONT, CA: Digital surveillance networks are gaining popularity as governments worldwide face uncertainty during the pandemic and continue to develop management plans. They can offer near real-time contact traceability to find and manage infections at the municipal or community level, forecast the need for medical resources that need to be provided, and evaluate compliance with local emergency guidelines and regulations.

Digital contact tracing provides an expandable method, unlike traditional contact tracing, usually based on memories of patients’ recent exposure to others. With opt-in participation, short-term data storage and rotating keys provide enhanced confidentiality than many of the internationally established systems.

Tech giants have the skill to comply with compliance as they introduce a product-focused towards the mass market as quickly as possible. Systems insights can be shared only with the public health officials to utilize the pandemic management. Additionally, contact tracing data will play a vital role in training and informing local and state policies.

As contact tracing solutions are brought in the market, the data security and privacy concerns remain an obstacle when it comes to opt-in rates. As cyberattacks become rampant, cloud-based hosting of confidential identifier signals can affect online safety since hacking and reidentifying a combined list of identity markers can happen. Governments can also try to utilize and embrace these techniques.

Apart from data security, data quality and operations are also a major concern for improving the program. Possible information openings can cause false-positive alerts like a precise measurement of device distance and exposure time. Preventing privacy and confidentiality issues is essential to embrace adopting a new system, which will have a bigger impact on the development of behavioral changes at the societal level.
