The growth of the smart cities across the globe was marked in the year 2013 by China, setting up its very first batch of smart cities. The commercialization of the 5G network has paved the way for the rapid growth of the related technology, which includes cloud services, big data as well as the Internet of Things. This has also allowed China to develop at a much faster pace

Fremont, CA: The Asia-Pacific Smart City Development Forum 2019, together hosted by the IDG Asia as well as the State information center, was organized at Shenzhen Convention and exhibition center. The Forum nearly gathered 100 smart city experts, who discussed with managers and business representatives of the smart cities. This was majorly targeted at the main forum "Smart Tech recreation," and the other two forums "Artificial Intelligence Promotion in Smart City Development" as well as "Speeding Industry and Urban Development with Digital Transformation."

The construction of smart cities is highly dependent on the upcoming advancements in digital technology. The major players in the smart city industry, such as Huawei, Ping An Smart City, ZTE, and Alibaba Cloud, work together for the research and development of the smart city devices.

The major players in the Smart city industry point out that, in order to build a smart city with the application of 5G integrated with Artificial Intelligence, major hindrance comes from the data. The digitalization of the information coming from 1000 homes, 10 million people, from over an area as wide as 1000 Sq. Km can only be aggregated with the new wide-area wireless network, which can be achieved with the help of the 5G technology. The significant latency, coupled with low latency, offers a broader area for deployment of the data governance as well as computing power. The smart city industry actively acknowledges the necessity of 5G technology in smart city construction process. Smart cities must be backed up by high-speed network connection and cloud security.
