Living in a data-driven world, almost every sector is keeping pace with the latest security updates to elude cyber attacks and cyber crimes. However, the healthcare sector can still be spotted largely utilizing leagcy systems. The widespread  lack of robust security measures is today attracting a large amount of attacks by cyber criminals. Though not life-threatening, attacks directed at healthcare institutions serve as a conduit for stealing personally identifiable information that can fetch good price in the black market.

Recently, a cyber security firm called TrapX Security has done an analysis on the healthcare networks and infrastructure. The firm reported that healthcare is considered as major target to threats and vulnerabilities due to the lack of security in measures. In order to find the reason behind this problem and gather more information, the firm developed a forged health care provider in the darknet market. Additionally it also issued the access credentials in the market. By their effective tactics, TrapX Security was able to gain numerous data on the hackers, including hacker’s extensive penetration of networks and the hijack of medical devices. Furthermore, the firm also gained information on how the hacked data is purveyed in the market. By constantly studying hacker’s attack pattern, the firm also found that US-based institutions are a major tagert globally.

If this situation remains prevalent, it could cause a major uproar in the security sector as it deals with patients' privacy concerns. So in order to overcome this situation, medical authorities should be aware of the complexity of this situation. Security system should be implemented from the base level. Moreover, all the legacy security systems should be completely eradicated with the modern methods. Incumbents in the healthcare sector should deploy up to date security management solutions to assure safety of patient’s data.
